Description
The Heirs of Acadia series continues the success of the prequel fiction series Song of Acadia, by Janette Oke and T. Davis Bunn. Davis and his wife, Isabella, are continuing the historical saga of a pivotal time in America's past with descendants of those courageous Acadians. In the preceding novel, The Solitary Envoy, readers were introduced to a delightful little girl, daughter of a United States diplomat in England. Abigail Aldridge now has grown into a lovely but sometimes impulsive young woman. Being raised in the halls of royalty and power has made her very sensitive to the living conditions of the working class of London, and she becomes increasingly outraged by the chasm between her Christian ideals and the plight of the poor. With her penchant for action before reflection, a well-intentioned social outreach puts her right in the middle of disaster, which turns into a scandal, and soon she is on a ship headed back to America--hopefully beyond the court's wagging tongues.... The broad expanse of the American landscape and an encounter with a brilliant young scholar open Abbie's heart to a new understanding of her divine destiny.
